There is an old saying, “if you can’t beat them, join them”. Which means if you can’t beat the opposition, then might as well join forces in order to control the situation.
Not only are people tending to join forces with whatever is trending whether it’s on social media, politics, or the news, Christians seem to be somewhat slowly moving in the direction as well.
Sometimes we portray Jesus as a soft-spoken man that delivers the message of love in a way that doesn’t offend or rebuke anyone. However, if you pay closely attention to how scripture characterizes Jesus, Jesus was a radical that was on a mission to reveal the truth of God here on earth.
While the Pharisees were caught up in obeying all the Old Testament laws and judging people if they don’t uphold the laws, Jesus came and fulfilled the laws by dying on the cross for us to give us a new life, a life that is countercultural and on mission to make disciples.
One of the challenges that I face as a pastor is to preach, teach and live a life that is counter cultural by following the word of God. Schools, jobs, family, and society for the most part, do not follow the word of God, but it seems like we have to follow the world in order to survive and live.
My answer to this is to have faith in God. Have faith that God is the master creator that created you for a specific purpose that is not of this world, but for the kingdom of God. Have faith that the decisions that you make if it’s according to the Word of God will bless you abundantly. Have faith in living a life that is in Christ and not of this world no matter how much the world can offer you.
Continue to be in prayer,be part of the body called the church, and be in constant communion with God. Never compromise the Word for worldly successes or affirmations. God loves you, Jesus saved you by giving you a new life through his death and resurrection.
Blessings,
