40 Days of Prayer – The Fount Account

Beginning next Sunday, October 22nd, I am calling The Fount to 40 Days of Prayer. I’ll be preaching a series of sermons and sending out daily “Prayer Prompts” by email, encouraging the congregation to be in concentrated prayer for the future of our church.

We are entering into a very pivotal period in the life of The Fount. With the disaffiliation process coming to a head in November, we need to be praying fervently for the church and for the challenges we face as a church and as individual members of the church. This is not something to take lightly or casually. I need each and every member of The Fount family to commit to spending significant time in prayer each day, using the prayer prompts and expanding beyond them, as the Lord leads.

Here is what we will be focusing on:  our process to separate from The United Methodist Church, the individuals who are leading us in this process, the hearts of the leadership of our annual conference, our relationship with the community around us and our ministry in their midst, and much, much more. I am hoping that everyone will commit to at least 15 minutes of prayer each day, in addition to your other spiritual disciplines. The Scriptures for each week will be introduced in the Sunday sermon, and will then be commended to you to ponder and meditate on through the week. If you miss the sermon on Sunday morning, I encourage you to watch a recording of it on YouTube or Facebook (if you need help to do this, contact the church office). You can also access the sermon video on the front page of our website (https://thefount.church). This is a time for us to come together before the Lord to lay at His feet the challenges before us.

Here are the Scriptures that will be introduced each week:

  • Oct. 22: Acts 1:1-13
  • Oct. 29: Exodus 34:1-9
  • Nov. 5: Acts 4:23-32
  • Nov. 12: Matthew 5:13-16
  • Nov. 19: Acts 18:1-11
  • Nov. 26: 2 Chronicles 7:14-15

This can turn out to be a wonderful time for us as we concentrate our prayers together! It could even be the start of a spiritual revival of sorts for our community. So, let’s prepare ourselves and plan to participate fully and enthusiastically as we follow Jesus into our future!

In Christ,
