Giving Intentional Attention to God – The Fount Account

Recently I have become aware that the blessings in my life have been getting much more of my attention than my God who provided them. It’s not that I have not been grateful to him, it’s just that his presence seemed distant because he had not been getting the priority that he deserves.

God drew me back into a renewed awareness and appreciation of his presence by leading me to re-read some journal notes I wrote in the past. I don’t journal often, but at times it has been helpful for processing things that just seemed too big for me to make sense of. Through that processing, I’m often able to see God at work in ways that were not obvious at first, plus it provides a record to remind me of what God has already seen me through. These reminders open me to seeing what he is currently doing in my life as well.

It’s amazing how obvious God’s presence is when we respond to his nudges and make him a priority.

Yesterday this was reinforced for me when Pastor Osvaldo Perez preached for us. His sermon, “Seeking the Lord” was full of reminders to be intentional about continually including God in every aspect of our lives.

Some things Pastor Osvaldo encouraged us to think about:

  1. Are we spending quality time in God’s word?
  2. Are we being intentional about spending time in God’s presence?
  3. Are we being intentional about including God in every decision we make?
  4. Is God, the provider of all of our blessings our first priority, even above our families, work, goals and pursuits or is he sitting on the side?

Don’t you love when God is speaking to you, and he reinforces what he is telling you through other people as well!

Blessings,
