Just as the world was beginning to relax regarding COVID-19, apprehension about inflation and tensions between Russia and Ukraine began to rise. Now we are witnessing the invasion of Ukraine and wondering what this will mean for the rest of the world. While watching this unfold, it can be hard to remember that God is in control of our world.
It is going to be tempting to fixate on world events right now at the expense of our emotional and spiritual well-being. If you find your anxiety (and blood pressure) rising, it might be time to step back from the news and hand it over to the Lord. It won’t be easy!
Let God’s Word and the upcoming season of Lent be reminders that Jesus has got this.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12 KJV
We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; 2 Corinthians 4:8
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
