Thoughtful Thursday – Hebrews 4:12 Memories

You know how certain scents can bring back a strong memory from childhood? This verse is like that for me. It flashes me back to fond memories with my son because it was the first verse that a Sunday school teacher challenged him to memorize when he was little. This led to time spent memorizing the verse (adding sword motions to make it more fun) and discussing what it meant. He was so pleased when the verse was memorized. The verse also brings feelings of gratitude for the Sunday school teacher who was so intentional about planting God’s word in his heart. His teacher knew her audience and chose a verse that a class full of energetic boys could get excited about.

Hebrews 4:12
“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
