The early Methodists gathered together in three different “meetings”. The Society Meeting was the general meeting of all members, much like our Sunday morning worship service. The Class Meeting was a smaller group of up to 12 people who gathered to hold one another accountable for growth and faithfulness, answering the question, “How goes it with your soul?” The Band Meeting was an even smaller group of 3-5 people of the same gender and relative life stage, that delved more deeply into the member’s discipleship growth, developing deep, lasting bonds of relationship.
At The Fount, we have established the first two meetings well. Our Sunday morning worship (Society Meeting) is an awesome experience of worship and fellowship as the whole church gathers, either in person or online. Our Life Groups, of which we currently have four, meet weekly. And now, we are launching our newest Wesleyan/Methodist meeting, the Band Meeting, which we are calling Discipleship Groups.
Several members went through training in Band Meetings last fall. But the invitation is for anyone who would like to take the next step in their discipleship growth. Discipleship Groups are forming now. They will be groups of 3-5 people, of the same gender and relative life stage, meeting weekly for an hour to really challenge each other to grow deeper in the Lord. If you are interested in becoming a member of a Discipleship Group, contact Pastor Glen either through the church office (714-962-2593) or by email (PastorGlen@TheFount.Church). The best way to learn about Discipleship Groups is to join one!
