Meditating on Sunday’s Scripture Verses

Have you ever noticed that you can read a familiar verse from the Bible and something new can be revealed to you that you never noticed before?

As I was preparing the bulletin for this Sunday’s outdoor service, I read the verses that Pastor Glen selected. I’ve read it before but this time two things stood out to me. The first thing was that  for those who are still here, God will be bringing His new Jerusalem to them (vs. 2). In other words, they will not go to heaven in the way that the saints before them did, heaven will come to them.  And the second thing is that God will dwell with us (vs. 3), not just in Spirit, but all of him: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Take a few minutes to meditate on the verses before Sunday’s sermon and see what area God is bringing to your attention.

Revelation 21:1-4

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying,
See, the home of God is among mortals.
He will dwell with them;
they will be his peoples,
and God himself will be with them;
   4 he will wipe every tear from their eyes.
Death will be no more;
mourning and crying and pain will be no more,
for the first things have passed away.”
