Thoughtful Thursday: I Believe…

Are you familiar with the Nicene Creed and the Apostles’ Creed?

Pastor Glen is in the middle of preaching a series of sermons about church doctrine; The set of beliefs that are the basis of the Christian church. Last Sunday he noted that many Christians don’t actually hold to these beliefs anymore and that their beliefs are influenced by the secular world more that the Church. We all know how often opinions change in the secular world. How confusing it must be for those who have no consistent foundation for their faith.  It’s no wonder that so many people seem to be so discontent. Knowing what we believe gives us peace and hope, even in a volatile world.

While we continue through the Doctrine Matters sermon series, I thought it might be helpful to have print copies of the Nicene Creed and the Apostles’ Creed to refer to so I have attached links to both of them below.  You can print them from home or if you contact the office, I can print them for you.

My challenge to you this week is to take time to slowly reflect on each line of The Apostles’ Creed. For bonus points and gold stars, consider memorizing it, if you haven’t already.
