Making Invitations

The month of March will afford all of us a wealth of opportunities to invite friends, neighbors, former members, co-workers, family members and perfect strangers to consider a life of Christian discipleship.  The
opportunities are around us all the time, of course, but with Easter this month and with evangelist Wesley Putnam coming for four nights, we have a lot of potential invitations!

We have talked a lot about mentoring and discipling people into faith and into a deeper walk of faith.  But sometimes there needs to be an initial event that starts them on the road to discipleship.  This month has many such events. Consider:

The Master’s Storyteller, March 20-23, 6pm for Children and 7pm for
everyone each night

Good Friday, March 25th at 7pm

Easter Sunday, March 27th at 10:30 AM

A simple invitation to one or more of these events at your church could be the start of something amazing in someone’s life!

Here are a couple sample invitations.  Feel free to use them:

Hey, _______, we’re having a special program at my church on ________. Would you like to come?
(ring, ring), Hello, ______? This is ________. I wanted to invite you to come to __________ at my church. Can I pick you up?

Here is what NOT to say:

Hey, _____, we’re having some whatchamacallit at my church. You wouldn’t want to come, would you?

Obviously, I’m making fun, but you get the idea. We all talk about  making the church grow. How about we do something about it?  Unless, of course, you think that somebody else should do it.

Peace,

Pastor Glen
