Souper Bowl Sunday!

“Lord, even as we watch the Super Bowl Football Game, help us be mindful of those without even a bowl of soup to eat.”  This was the single line in the pastoral prayer that started the grassroots youth movement known as the “Super Bowl of Caring.”  Since its beginning in 1990 in a South Carolina church, more than $81 million has been donated to fight hunger and poverty.  As you leave worship on February 7th, would you consider giving a $1 donation on your way out?  (Kettles will be available at the back of the sanctuary.)  You can also pay by check (made payable to FVUMC with “Souper Bowl” in the memo).  These proceeds will benefit Beach Cities Interfaith Services Inc.  In addition, we will be collecting cans of soup.  Start saving your cans and money now and be sure to bring them to church Sunday, February 7th  or drop them by the church office any  Monday through Thursday 9:00 am to 3:00 pm or Fridays 9:00 am to 12:00 noon between now and February 7th.  Thank you on behalf of the UMW!
