At the time, I couldn\u2019t think of a specific example, but God showed me one of my triggers the very next day!<\/p>\n<p>Then in day two of the Lent reading I read, \u201cLife in Jesus is not about managing our sin. We become Christlike by receiving an entirely new nature.\u201d That does not mean that our old nature is not there, but it becomes weaker every time we choose to \u201cput away\u201d our old nature and instead \u201cbe renewed\u201d by our new nature that we have in the Holy Spirit.<\/p>\n<p>Ephesians 4:22-24\u00a0<strong><sup>22\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>You were taught to\u00a0<u>put away<\/u>\u00a0your former way of life, your old self, corrupt and deluded by its lusts,\u00a0<strong><sup><span id=\"en-NRSV-29279\">23\u00a0<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><span id=\"en-NRSV-29279\">and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,\u00a0<\/span><strong><sup><span id=\"en-NRSV-29280\">24\u00a0<\/span><\/sup><\/strong><span id=\"en-NRSV-29280\">and to\u00a0<u>clothe yourselves with the new self<\/u>, created according to the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This realization gives me hope because in my own strength I have not been able to change, but by submitting my grievances to God, I have been able to let things go much faster and each time, my reaction has been less severe.
