{"id":7532,"date":"2021-09-09T14:58:10","date_gmt":"2021-09-09T21:58:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefount.church\/church\/?p=7532"},"modified":"2021-09-09T14:58:10","modified_gmt":"2021-09-09T21:58:10","slug":"thoughtful-thursday-listen-to-me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefount.church\/church\/2021\/09\/09\/thoughtful-thursday-listen-to-me\/","title":{"rendered":"Thoughtful Thursday:\u00a0Listen to Me"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sunday\u2019s sermon verses are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=proverbs+1%3A20-33&amp;version=NLT\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=proverbs+1%3A20-33&amp;version=NLT\">Proverbs 1:20-33<\/a>, but the NLT version of verse 33 is what jumped out at me while I was reading it today. \u00a0\u201cBut all who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t believe that verse means that nothing will go wrong in our lives, but it means that God will give us peace no matter the circumstance if we listen to him and we should not live in fear of what <em>could<\/em> go wrong.<\/p>\n<p>Isaiah 41 repeats this theme in verse 10: \u201cDon\u2019t be afraid, for I am with you. Don\u2019t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.\u201d And in verse 13: \u201cFor I hold you by your right hand- I, the Lord your God. And I say to you, \u201cDon\u2019t be afraid. I am here to help you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the New Testament we see the theme again with instruction of how to defeat fear in Philippians 4:6-7: Don\u2019t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God\u2019s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and mind as you live in Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n<p>While we all have moments of uncertainty and fear, we don\u2019t have to stay in the fear and we know who to turn to in those moments. If you have been wrestling with fear, take time to reflect on where the fear is coming from and bring it to God in prayer. If there is anything in your life that is feeding the fear, purge it from your life.
