{"id":2338,"date":"2016-08-31T11:10:37","date_gmt":"2016-08-31T18:10:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thefount.church\/church\/?p=2338"},"modified":"2016-08-31T10:10:55","modified_gmt":"2016-08-31T17:10:55","slug":"the-california-pacific-conference-cal-pac-receives-new-bishop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefount.church\/church\/2016\/08\/31\/the-california-pacific-conference-cal-pac-receives-new-bishop\/","title":{"rendered":"The California-Pacific Conference (Cal-Pac) Receives New Bishop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the recent Western Jurisdictional Conference it was decided to move Bishop Minerva Carca\u00f1o to the California-Nevada Conference and to assign to our annual conference, Bishop Grant Hagiya.<\/p>\n<p>Bishop Hagiya has spent the past eight years as the leader of the Greater Northwest Episcopal Area, presiding over the Alaska, Pacific Northwest, and Oregon-Idaho Annual Conferences of The United Methodist Church. \u00a0Previously, Bishop Hagiya was ordained a Deacon in 1976 and an Elder in 1980. \u00a0He was appointed to three churches in his ministry career: \u00a0Berkeley UMC in the California-Nevada Annual Conference, as well as North Gardena UMC and Centenary UMC (both in the California-Pacific Annual Conference). \u00a0He has served as the Chairperson for the Cal-Pac Conference Board of Ordained Ministry, taught at the Claremont School of Theology, and was the superintendent of the Los Angeles District. \u00a0He was elected to the episcopacy in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>Please pray for Bishop Hagiya as he assumes his ministry amongst us on September 1<sup>st<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At the recent Western Jurisdictional Conference it was decided to move Bishop Minerva Carca\u00f1o to the California-Nevada Conference and to assign to our annual conference, Bishop Grant Hagiya.
